I am a huge fan of children’s literature.  I think with the standards and structured lesson plans and time restrictions, children do not get to enjoy nearly as must literature as I remember absorbing as a kid.  This especially bothers me in the Athens community because I know a lot of my students do not have the resources or support needed to read or be read to at home.  Therefore, I have made it my mission to incorporate literature in to every single subject.  The only way children will learn to read is if they hear something they care about; this will not happen for many of them unless we make it happen.

Now there is just no way I can post every aspect of every subject with every book that is great for it.  But I will constantly update this and post some of my favorites that I have used and succeeded with in the classroom.

Also, if a book is not the most perfect one for a lesson but you still want to introduce it to your students, I have found reading a great thing to do at the beginnings and ends of days as well as during transitions when everyone needs to settle down and get back in the zone for learning such as after lunch, recess, etc.
